I had the privilege to speak at the first Stanford Sleep Apnea Course yesterday in Palo Alto. Robson Capasso and Pedro de Oliveira brought together an amazing group of world-class speakers. Topics ranged from hot topics in OSA pharmacotherapy by Dr. Atul Malhotra, to sleep dentistry from Dr. Audrey Yoon, to a variety of surgical expertise from past fellows. In Stanford fashion, there were also talks on innovation, the investment landscape around sleep, social media (my talk!), and novel technologies in the field.
I came away inspired by the incredible work so many folks are doing in the sleep apnea field. As I continue to share on this newsletter, there are big changes coming to OSA management and patients will be benefitting in major ways.
I would highly recommend keeping an eye out for future Stanford Sleep Apnea Courses- I think this will be the first of many future meetings. In particular, sleep medicine, sleep dentistry, ENT/oral surgeons would all benefit tremendously from the education and networking opportunities it afforded.
*Congratulations to Robson again for his efforts with Pedro putting this course together. The video is a fun summary of the energy/excitement from the meeting. (28-30s a personal cameo).
